About Appalachian Memory Keepers

Appalachian Memory Keepers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization passionately committed to preserving and sharing the history, heritage and culture of Appalachia. We are able to do what we do only through the generosity of our supporters. Please consider making a donation HERE.

We need your help. It is a fact that Appalachia is changing rapidly. Many of the people and places that we filmed fifteen years ago are no longer with us. If we had not previously captured their stories in film and print, they would have been lost forever. You can view these stories on YOUTUBE for free.

We think it is vital that we capture as many stories of Old Appalachia as possible . . . BEFORE the people who lived in those times are gone. Why? Because we believe that these people and our Region have value and deserve respect for the important contributions they have made to our society.

It is a simple fact that our children and our children’s children need to know from whence they came. They need to have an understanding of their authentic Appalachian heritage, not the one that is so frequently stereotyped and mocked in pop culture.
